In the discussion on the so called Fairchild lens I would have been interested in clarifying the question to what extent it is certain that exactly this 160°-degree optic was used a second time for "Brainstorm" in 1983?
This is stated in one source, but in another it is said that an OmniVision 160° lens was used.
I have an OmniVision 160° lens here as a projection lens from a collection of Cinema 180 degree films that was made.
I also have an old 70mm print of "2001", but I don't have a curved screen at the moment.
A screen curved by 160 degrees would therefore be the right projection surface to adequately project the scene in the centrifuge, for example, but also some later shots.
With the 8mm Nikon lens, I wonder if it could have been mounted on the pl-mount of the Super Panavision or Todd AO camera to film the scene in which Bowman shows his drawing to the HAL9000 computer?
